Ashley Banyard

Virologist
Animal and Plant Health Agency

Dr Ashley Banyard leads the avian virology workgroup at the UK Animal and Plant Health Agency, as well as holding the role of Head of Research on influenza and Newcastle disease virus where he leads several research teams undertaking cutting edge research into these pathogens. He is also the head of the National Reference Laboratory for Avian Influenza and Deputy Director for the OIE/FAO international reference laboratory for avian influenza and Newcastle disease virus and is a disease consultant for avian influenza at APHA. He is recognised internationally as an expert in both morbilliviruses and lyssaviruses.
